Thanks for visiting Craig Beck Productions

On this site you will find information regarding the 2002 Olympic Longboarding Team --- the "Sierra Lightnings"; Craig Beck's upcoming documentary on the history and sport of Longboarding, as well as the famous ski film classic by Craig Beck: "Daydreams".

Craig Beck is a longtime Lake Tahoe local whose interest in skiing began at a young age. Since 1960, Beck, now 57 has been a figure in the Tahoe scene as a skier, rock climber, hang-glider and sailplane pilot, contractor and ski historian. Two of his most notable achievements include the classic ski film "Daydreams" and the one time world altitude record for hang gliding of more than 20,000 feet. Craig's first job at Tahoe was as a ski messenger for the Associated Press during the 1960 Winter Olympics at Squaw Valley, USA and many of the photos from this job have huge historical interest today.

"Daydreams", a full length (80 minutes) motion picture was filmed and produced in 1975 and remains today as the definitive monument to Squaw Valley extreme skiing.

With a non-stop musical background and a myriad number of amazing cliff jumps and avalanche chutes; "Daydreams" redefines the "ski movie" even today. All ski and board movies made after "Daydreams" were copies of this amazing incarnation. Pink Floyd provided some of the soundtrack and parts of "Daydreams" were used as part of the background for the Pink Floyd European Tour of 1977.

Craig took "Daydreams" to Europe where it was toured to overwhelming acclaim. Craig followed "Daydreams" with a number of other films, including "Skiing Extreme I" and "Skiing Extreme II" done for The North Face company, "Skiing Bloopers", "Skiing Frenzy", and "American Freestyle" plus an instructional video called "Teach Your Child to Ski at Home."

Beck took Longboarding to the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics where his team, the "Sierra Lightnings" demonstrated the longboards at speeds in excess of 60 M.P.H. on the men's downhill course. This was done with no edges on the skis, no crash helmets and wearing cowboy boots held in with shoestrings. Beck is also the founder of the National Longboard Association, and is currently working on a Longboard documentary and a new "extreme skiing" film.
